There was a time when all I could hear inside my head was a constant chatter, "Why did I do that stupid thing? What will they think of me looking like this? Why did they do that horrid thing to me? No-one likes me. Just eat, NOW. I am not worthy. I am shit, fat and ugly. How can anyone love me when I hate myself?" I tried all sorts of self-development, spent £1000's on 'gurus' but nobody could change the secret dialogue in my head. "Just let it go, " they would say or, "You just gotta love yourself." Not so easy. I have now learned a technique that transformed me so the chatter in my head no longer tells me to eat, eat, eat or bitches to me and it is such a relief. I am excited to be sharing that process with you in my programme, Shift Emotional Weight in less than 12 weeks.
Like so many, I have had more than my fairshare of knocks in life. I used to feel a victim to that; to the abuse, to the shouting, the fighting. It started in childhood and left its scars so I learned to escape and food was my go to, I filled that gaping hole with food, had destructive relationships and suffered from anxiety. The basis of emotional distress as an adult is so commonly tied up with bad times or even missing good times. I experienced ongoing adversity as a child, resulting in living in a constant state of stress in puberty and adulthood. At the time, I didn't know why. I 'coped' by eating emotionally, got involved in negative and abusive relationships and my self esteem, even though at the time I didn't consciously know it, was incredibly low. My of my survival strengths was always to seek a solution. I have been on quite a journey to heal but finally found a set of unique processes that have given me the freedom to be happy in my own skin. Now I want to share them with you; help clear the things that happened to you, they are not you but they are making you unhappy and disempowered.

Support and community are essential for helping us to learn about ourselves, have someone to talk and share ups and downs. If we all came away in 'diet mode' did well for a month and lost a stone, we would all go back to exactly how it was and put that weight back on, because let's face it, the reason we came for help is because we have a distorted relationship with food. We would then be coming back every month, for our diet motivation for the next month and so on. The best option is to utilise all the material and come away with all the tools needed on our overstretched belts! Then it's up to us to dig deep and use every tool you've gifted us with, get to the root causes and jump off the hamster wheel that we have been stuck on.
I Feel Free
We went for lunch after bowling yesterday and because we had to wait so long for our food (one thing that causes anxiety normally if I'm really hungry!) the waitress said we could all have pudding for free. I chose my normal.. chocolate brownie and ice cream! I wasn't going to order one as I was full but as it was free, my greedy side said yes! However, it came out, I spent a moment asking whether I really wanted it. Whether the melted chocolate and caramel sauce draped all over it was what I really wanted and I had one mouthful and really enjoyed it and then a second to really appreciate it, before putting my spoon down and feeling satisfied with what I had had. My gremlins said.. eat it! It could be the last one for a while! It's delicious.. eat it! Don't waste it! I asked myself again if I wanted some more, but I was really satisfied with the two small mouthfuls and I genuinely didn't feel the need for more. I didn't think about it again and that was that. Normally I'd either have the whole lot, feel stuffed and sick and then spend the rest of the day regretting it, or, not have it at all and spend the rest of the day wishing I had and having a craving and need to go out to the nearest supermarket and buy a pudding from the ice cream section, cook it and eat most of it, giving the family the smallest part and then feeling sick and guilty for giving in. Instead, I felt in control, satisfied, happy, content and without shame, guilt and the mental battle. Without that mental battle, I feel free!!

As individuals we all are so different, as you know. In my experience, the more you are willing each day to work on change, the quicker the effect. This work isn't always easy, in actual fact, sometimes looking deeply at the 'whys' of why we 'use' can be challenging, that is why I am here and the community is here, to support you every step of the way. I offer various lengths of programme, 12 week group or individual, or customed to suit your journey.
It is not helpful to compare ourselves with others, this time is yours. Unlike diets which tend to be exciting at the beginning and you lose weight relatively easily, all depending but then the weight statistically comes back, this work is slower at the beginning but it lasts. There may be times when you take two steps forward and one step back, it is about finding your own rythm. About being your own guru in the end. The important thing to have is patience, compassion and be responsible for your own pace of healing.
Many people in the industry criticise diets yet then tell you to cut out sugar, go Paleo, try Keto or fast. So they are basically saying don't diet but here is a diet to follow anyway and if you don't do it properly you have failed. Let me say here that there is not a problem with these diets providing the 'user' is relaxed and not getting obsessed by them. The worse thing about diets is the 'diet mentality' because you lose contact with your own choices and can feel deprived. But we all know someone for whom diets work, just if you eat emotionally, they tend not to last and cause more problems long term.
My work is about changing the psychology, the mindset, the way we eat, the how we eat and the why we eat. If you want to follow a plan, completing the programme first will free the emotional over eating brain and therefore negative patterns, letting you choose what you want to do, follow a plan later on or choose what you and your body want to eat, when, what and where...ditch the emotional weight and find the freedom you choose.
Psychotherapy, counselling, Intuitive Eating, Mindful Eating, Hypnotherapy, etc. many of the above approaches do not cover the whole picture, we are whole beings and it is tricky to completely change if only one area is dealt with. These programmes are great but if you eat emotionally, it does not get to the parts that are causing the behaviour in the first place and so the behaviour cannot change in the long term and in some cases things can get worse. In the same way as dieting only tells you want to eat or not to eat, it doesn't enable complete change for everybody unless you go deep and heal the empty or hungry part that the subconscious thinks food is filling because eventually the willpower of the habit is stronger and it comes back. I incorporate all of these techniques into the Re:think Eating programmes so you can have the whole mind, body and heart experience for greater success.
'Nothing works for me' is a common statement. It is also what is known as a limiting belief. If you are repeating this message to yourself your subconscious will respond by sabotaging your efforts and making sure you will not complete anything. It feels threatened, it is such hard work, it involves confronting uncomfortable things and plenty of reasons for keeping you stuck. Each step of the programme is about you taking small steps, being curious about how something feels, experimenting with what happens, without judgement or pressure.
This limiting belief is often due to methods tried do not get to the core of the habit. Remember, weight gain, extra fat around the body, is the symptom of a behaviour. A behaviour that may have been around a long time but started for a reason. What will happen in your life if you don't change your habits and behaviours? Or if you do?
